We are going to get a new furbaby!!

I am so excited! We had decided last year after getting our rescue dog Figgy that we would get another dog this spring. My husband wanted either a Bulldog or another Bullmastiff. Last weekend he found a Bullmastiff puppy. We won't get him for a few more weeks but he has already been named (at least for now) Gimli. For those of you that have seen the Lord of the Rings movies you may think this name is familiar. Gimli is the dwarf in the movies and we figured the name was appropriate for a well let's say stocky breed of dog. The picture is from about a week ago so I would guess he has put on a few pounds since it was taken.

Photo Challenge Serendipity

Though I had said that I wanted to get caught up with the photo challenges on SCS and keep up with them I have not really been taking any pictures. I am still getting used to my eyes and going back and forth between reading glasses and no glasses. But yesterday morning after dropping off my daughter at school I encountered a sight I could not pass up. The challenge this week was "Winter Blues" and I think that this sky was just about perfect. I hope you enjoy it.

Can I vent here?

Well, since it is my blog, I guess I can vent here.

Okay, now this will not come as a surprise to most of you but I don't like winter. Given any situation without my family living in Illinois I cannot imagine ever living here voluntarily but they do live here so I guess I will continue to live here because I cannot imagine having to get on a plane to see my or my husbands family.

But this has become a bit ridiculous. I think we went below zero sometime Wednesday evening and now on Friday afternoon we are still below zero. I am used to ocasionally during the winter hearing that it is colder here than Alaska but as of yesterday morning it was colder in Freeport Illinois than at both of the poles. Rumor has it that we should see positive numbers sometime today but I don't believe them. It is now 12:15 pm and we have only gotten up to -10 but I guess that is better than the -24 that is was when I got to work this morning. (Just so you all know the temps I am mentioning are real air temps not wind chill temps.)

Tomorrow we should see +22 which should feel like a heat wave. Just think about it almost 50 degrees above where we were this morning. Big swing!!

Well, I will just ask that if you are also enduring this mess please stay warm and safe. If you are somewhere warm, please send a plane ticket.

God Bless and have a great day!!

LASIK update

I went back to the doctor today for my post op appointment and though the letters were a bit fuzzy....
I read the 20/20 line!!

I go back again in about a week for another appointment and am hoping that at appointment I will at the least be able to read the 20/20 line without it being fuzzy. I must admit it was not quite as easy as I had hoped but for the results I would have to say it was well worth it. I do need to use readers as I cannot see anything up close now. Some of that will probably clear up but the reports I work with at my job are printed in such a small font I know I will need the readers there. I can however now see individual branches on trees down the street whereas before without my glasses I wouldn't have been able to tell you for sure that it was a tree. Well, I am off for now. Gotta put some more drops in my eyes. Have a great day and God Bless!!

Watermark on photo

I have finally figured out how to put a watermark on my pictures and I think I figured out how to add a photo to a post. Let's see if this works...

Small changes, big impact?

I never got back on here last night to post my resolutions. I decided to lay down for a short nap at about nine and did not get up until just before midnight. We said Happy New Year and I went back to bed again.
This year I am not going to make any of the crazy, impossible resolutions. I am hoping that if I just try to make little changes to my life I will see a big impact.

Most importantly, I want to have more patience, with myself and also with my daughter. I know that I am often far too critical of her and myself so that is one big change I want to make.

As for small changes:
1. I really want to start stamping more but my stamping area is really scary right now and when I go up there I get so overwhelmed I just walk out. So my small change here is to go up there and spend just 15 minutes each day straightening until it is clean enough that I can stamp without stressing.
2. I want to start taking more pictures and learning more about my camera so my small change here is to go back and do each of the photography challenges on Splitcoast Stampers and keep up with the new ones as they come out.
3. I am also going to start moving more, no telling myself I need to work out every day but I want to get up and move a bit more each day.

Well, I am off to get some laundry done.
